The Hours by Michael Cunningham
Beautifully written. I wasn’t sure how much I needed to know about Mrs. Dalloway before reading The Hours. I’ve never read it and don’t know anything about it, but it turned out to be fine. There may have been a level of interrelatedness I was missing but it seemed like he did a fine job of conveying what I needed to know about Virginia Wolfe’s life and her book. A very interesting, evocative story. I rarely seem to have that reaction to books that everyone’s talking about and get made into movies, so this was a pleasant surprise.
Now I just have to read Mrs. Dalloway.
